How will you make an impact in this role?
The Cybersecurity Engineer plays a critical role in protecting enterprise systems, applications, and data from evolving cyber threats. This position supports the design, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of security controls across on-premise and cloud environments.
The role combines technical engineering expertise with operational security responsibilities, working closely with Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, Technology Risk, Infrastructure, and Application Development teams to enhance defensive capabilities and reduce enterprise risk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement, and maintain security technologies including firewalls, SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, web proxies, and email security solutions.
- Monitor and analyze security alerts to identify potential threats and support incident response activities.
- Support vulnerability management processes including scanning, prioritization, and remediation tracking.
- Assist with implementation of cloud security controls across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Evaluate and improve logging, monitoring, and detection capabilities.
- Conduct security assessments and support remediation planning.
- Collaborate with engineering and development teams to integrate security into system design and deployment processes.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, standards, and procedures.
- Participate in investigations involving suspicious activity or security incidents.
- Contribute to automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong understanding of enterprise security controls and architectures.
- Experience working with network security technologies (firewalls, proxies, IDS/IPS).
- Familiarity with SIEM platforms and log analysis.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and common network protocols.
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and remediation workflows.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of cloud security fundamentals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or equivalent experience.
- Industry certifications such as Security+, CEH, CISSP, GSEC, or similar.
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Knowledge of threat frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- Experience supporting audit and compliance initiatives.
Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
