How will you make an impact in this role?

Amex Digital Labs’ mission is to build the future of payments and membership, creating new value that evolves with our customers' needs and drives deeper engagement and loyalty. We leverage emerging technologies to deliver innovations that enhance how customers pay, travel, dine, and experience the brand. The Global Digital Payments Business Development & Partnerships team is a high impact group within Amex Digital Labs responsible for launching, managing, and expanding new digital payments products and partnerships, including Apple, Google, Samsung, Amazon, and other emerging partners in the space.

The Senior Manager will own the Pay Pal relationship and innovation initiatives across Pay Pal (e.g., card-on-file experiences and emerging commerce capabilities), while working closely across the enterprise to manage and strengthen the overall relationship to drive product and business outcomes to promote digital spending and membership. The Senior Manager will report into the Director of Business Development.

You will bring to life key digital payment and commerce initiatives to support American Express’ growth with both Big Tech and start-up partners. You will own partner relationships across multiple levels of organizations, lead major contract and expansion negotiations, develop overall partnership strategies and oversee the go-to-market planning for new products and experiences. You will collaborate extensively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across product, marketing, legal, and many others.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Labs’ relationship with Pay Pal. Own partner relationships with counterparts and coordinate with other enterprise Pay Pal leads, covering product portfolio including digital product integrations with Pay Pal
  • Partner with Labs Product, Enablement, Marketing, GMNS, Amex Ventures and GCO colleagues and other Enterprise teams to execute new product and feature launches and own commercial negotiations and strategy for agreements
  • Define a winning partner strategy in the short, medium and long term. Own and influence decisions among Labs and enterprise leadership to execute that strategy
  • Create business cases and cost-benefit analyses to assess partnership opportunities and shape investment strategy, enabling informed, high-impact business decisions
  • Lead development of payments and digital wallet strategy, identifying opportunities and synthesizing insights to drive product and enterprise-wide outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and develop tools to optimize tasks across the partner lifecycle.
  • Be thought leader for payments and commerce trends and innovation, staying ahead of industry trends and monitoring opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in partner management, strategy, business development, fintech, digital payments, or a quantitative/analytical role with an ability to quickly adapt in a rapidly evolving space
  • 5+ Years of strategic partnerships, business development, or partner management experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across different functions, colleagues at all levels, and with partners
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop winning digital payment product and platform strategies
  • Creative thinker who can collaborate with product and partner teams to brainstorm and use design thinking to develop compelling consumer experiences that also drive AXP goals
  • Excellent organizational and program management skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams to drive alignment, accountability, and structured execution
  • A self-starter with demonstrated ownership and intellectual curiosity, comfortable operating independently, and ability to excel in a dynamic, ever-changing environment and to switch gears as required
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with experience interpreting, manipulating, and deriving insights from data to support performance reporting and decision-making
  • Strong interest in digital payments, Big Tech, e Commerce trends, AI, and digital products
  • Proficiency leveraging AI tools to enhance day-to-day workflows, with curiosity and initiative to test and adopt emerging technologies is a plus
  • Expertise in mobile, e-commerce, AI, and working with technical and product development teams is a plus
  • MBA is a plus

Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
