The CTG Plant Technician duties and responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:

  • Performs tasks associated with operating, maintaining and repairing gas turbine engines, generators, low and medium voltage electrical components and various auxiliary equipment for power production.
  • Performs periodic inspections, completes maintenance and operational reports and administrative tasks related to systems readiness and regulatory compliance including quality testing of water and lubricants.
  • Works with blueprints, drawings, schematics, charts and various equipment documentation and record and compile operational data by completing and maintaining forms, logs, or reports.
  • Assures operational efficiency, unit reliability, and compliance with company and other regulatory requirements including safety and environmental standards through performance monitoring of power plant equipment and indicators and data reviews. Regulate equipment operations and conditions such as open and close valves and switches, start and stop equipment, clean, lubricate, or maintain equipment, such as generators, turbines, pumps and motor control centers.
  • Interfaces with various work groups, both internal and external, in order to meet all production, testing, regulatory requirements, operations and maintenance schedules.
  • The CTG Plant Technician is subject to trouble callouts, working overtime, and weekends as required to support plant operations, maintenance activities or emergencies.

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant industrial journey-level or specialized military training or technology degree / certification.
  • Three or more years of experience in power or propulsion plant operations and maintenance.
  • Experience with simple cycle or aero-derivative combustion turbine platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Must pass the General Power Plant Battery (GPPB) Assessment as well as a written Plant Technician Assessment.

The successful candidates must possess experience and related skills in all three (3) of the following disciplines:

Electrical Maintenance: Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining low and medium voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, motors, and breakers, motor control, generators, and plant wiring. Applicant must be familiar with the proper use of various electronic and precision test instruments to identify and correct issues.

Mechanical Maintenance: Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems including pumps, compressors, valves and various rotating equipment. Must be knowledgeable in alignment, rigging and lifting. Able to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams, structural drawings and layouts. Combustion turbine experience preferred.

Instrument & Control: Experienced in troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, tuning, and replacing instrumentation and control equipment. A general familiarity with control systems interfaces or PLC based controls and electronic instrumentation is preferred. Must be able to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and diagrams.

General: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are required. Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. Using relevant information to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information. Compiling, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data. Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. Operating, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles.

Must be able to work independently and work as part of a team providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Applicant must be able to work in extreme environments in order to complete work as assigned and is subject to trouble call response. Applicant must be willing to relocate to meet domicile requirements.

Must be willing to meet 40-mile domicile requirement per I.B.E.W. Local 2 contract.Hourly Pay:

Grade Step FA 041 Step 1 of 1 (Top Step) - 56.93 USD
