As a member of the AMD CPU Architecture Team, you will apply your software engineering expertise and understanding of CPU design to develop, enhance, and maintain tools that stress AMD’s processors for functional and operational quality. Your contributions will help improve performance, reliability, and time-to-market for AMD’s CPU cores. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements in stress and coverage tools based on technical insights and user feedback.

You bring a balanced understanding of both hardware (specifically CPU's) and software, and you’re comfortable working hands-on when needed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain stress tools for AMD CPUs.
  • Collaborate with CPU design teams to understand and target functionality of micro-architectural features.
  • Provide training and documentation to support tool usage across teams.
  • Address issues and implement improvements based on user feedback and testing results.
  • Participate in CPU micro-benchmarking and silicon validation efforts.
  • Work with debug and design teams to identify root causes and resolve issues.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ and x86 assembly in a Linux environment.

  • Solid understanding of x86 CPU architecture and instruction sets.

  • Experience with silicon bring-up, validation, and debugging.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in dynamic environments.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and functions.

  • ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE (Nice to Have)

  • Familiarity with CPU product characteristics such as frequency, voltage, thermal design power, and performance.

  • Knowledge of Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) methodologies.

  • Experience with x86 CPU's and Instruction Set Architecture.

  • Experience with power management, power-up sequences, clocking, and reset sequences.

  • Understanding of system-level architecture including SoC, DRAM/memory, PCIe, and board-level interactions.

  • Exposure to silicon debug tools and infrastructure.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
