Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.

Together, we advance your career.THE ROLE: As the GPU application engineer you will support an ISV GPU enablement team working on accelerating real-world applications on AMD GPUs.

This role centers on designing, developing, and refining application workflows and validation mechanisms that accelerate GPU enablement and optimization across the software stack.  You will work closely with senior engineers to validate GPU functionality, identify regressions, and improve user experience across rendering, content creation, and engineering applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Validate GPU-accelerated workflows in workstation ISV applications (e.g., rendering, simulation, interactive usage)

  • Profile GPU workloads and analyze compute/HIP performance

  • Reproduce, triage, and resolve GPU functional and performance related issues

  • Create simplified HIP sample code to isolate bugs from complex applications, making debugging and performance analysis faster.

  • Develop benchmarks and sample workloads to evaluate performance

  • Design and implement unit and integration tests to detect regressions early

  • Execute and maintain test plans for GPU features enabled through HIP

  • Evaluate user experience and correctness from an end-user perspective

  • Track regressions across driver, runtime, and application updates

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of professional software development

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Solid programming fundamentals in C/C++ and Python

  • Understanding of software testing concepts (test plans, unit testing, regression testing)

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging mindset

  • Familiarity with Linux or willingness to learn

  • Interest in GPU acceleration, graphics, or high-performance computing

NICE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with rendering applications such as Blender, Redshift, or engineering tools like ANSYS

  • Basic understanding of GPU programming concepts

  • Experience running or writing automated tests

  • Experience evaluating application workflows from a user perspective

  • Exposure to HIP, CUDA, or other GPU APIs (academic or personal projects)

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Benefits offered are described:  AMD benefits at a glance.
