Lead Performance Engineer
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an outstanding technical leader to drive performance of AMD EPYC Server processors to the next level. Performance analysis of cloud, enterprise, HPC, Machine Learning, and AI headnode workloads from a SoC performance architecture perspective*.*
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead performance bring‑up, characterization, and tuning of new silicon for complex server and data‑center workloads across CPU, memory, and interconnect subsystems.
- Drive root‑cause analysis of performance, power, and stability issues during post‑silicon performance evaluations, working closely with design, architecture, and firmware teams.
- Define and execute post‑silicon performance debug strategies, including workload enablement, bottleneck analysis, and silicon vs. model correlation.
- System and micro-architecture level performance debugs and resolve silicon-level performance and power observations/discrepancies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Mentor and guide a team of post‑silicon engineers, setting technical direction, best practices, and execution standards.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong foundation in CPU core, memory, storage and I/O subsystems
- Experience in driving Server SoC post silicon projects.
- Power user of performance profiling and hardware performance counter tools
- Familiarity with complex cloud or enterprise software such as database, data analytics, machine learning, and relevant benchmarks such as SPECCPU, SPECjbb15, etc.
- Good knowledge of operating systems concepts (e.g. scheduling, memory management, paging, interrupt handling, etc
- Good programming skills
- Excellent Data analysis skills (Excel or Python)
