The APJ Market Development Manager drives regional technical and go‑to‑market enablement for server platforms across Asia Pacific & Japan region. This role sits at the intersection of BU, sales, marketing, customers and partners, translating AMD’s product and technology into clear and differentiated value for customers and partners. This role needs to build strong connection and partnership with backend BU resources and deliver the key responsibilities described below. The position also serves as a key Voice of the Market, ensuring APJ requirements are reflected back into BU.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Pre-Sales Enablement
- Serve as the regional technical product expert for Server BU offerings, including CPUs, GPUs, platforms, and full system architectures.
- Support technical deep dives with enterprise, cloud, AI, and sovereign customers, including architecture reviews, performance positioning, and design considerations.
- Provide guidance on competitive differentiation, platform strengths, and design trade‑offs in customer engagements.
- Bridge engineering and BU language into field‑ready narratives, enabling sales teams to confidently articulate value proposition.
Go‑to‑Market & Solution Enablement
- Define, maintain, and evolve solution‑level messaging for key workloads and segments (e.g., AI/ML, cloud, enterprise, HPC, sovereign and regulated markets) through partnership with BU ISV and solution teams
- Drive shift of regional execution from SKU‑based selling to use‑case‑based solution selling, aligned to customer outcomes and workloads.
- Align Server BU roadmaps with APJ market requirements, regulatory needs, and partner readiness.
- Support major product launches with coordinated technical enablement assets and guidance.
Competitive & Platform Readiness
- Drive technical competitive analysis versus key competitors (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA), covering architecture, performance claims, TCO, and ecosystem maturity via close partnership with relevant BU teams.
- Establish positioning guardrails for the field (what to say, what not to say).
- Monitor competitive and ecosystem developments and assess impact to APJ opportunities.
- Surface platform gaps or readiness risks with clear, data‑backed feedback to the BU.
Partner & Channel Enablement
- Drive enabling and training for OEMs, ODMs, ISVs, CSPs, and distributors on server platforms, solutions, and positioning via close partnership with BU channel team
- Coordinate BU resources to enable partner training, Po Cs, validations, and early design wins.
- Ensure partner readiness across platform requirements, system constraints, and software ecosystems.
- Act as a technical escalation point for partners before issues reach BU engineering, improving speed and quality of resolution, via close partnership with the FAE team
Voice of the Market
- Collect and structure technical feedback from the field and partners, including:
- Platform and feature gaps
- Validation and deployment blockers
- Software, firmware, or ecosystem readiness issues
- Customer objections rooted in technology or architecture
- Provide clear, prioritized feedback into BU planning, roadmap discussions, and investment decisions.
- Support BU teams with market reality checks ahead of major launches to reduce execution risk in APJ.
Cross‑Functional Alignment
- Work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure one‑voice execution from BU to field:
- Sales & Regional Market Teams: deal execution, opportunity shaping, technical confidence
- Marketing: messaging alignment, launch consistency, and narrative clarity
- Engineering & Product Management: issue resolution, roadmap clarity, and feasibility
- Operations & Supply: launch readiness, constraints, and regional availability
- Influence without authority in a matrixed environment to drive outcomes.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 8–12+ years of experience in server platforms, datacenter technologies, or enterprise infrastructure, including pre‑sales, product management, or technical business development.
- Strong understanding of:
- Server CPU and GPU architectures
- Platform design (memory, I/O, networking, accelerators)
- Power, thermals, and system constraints
- Software ecosystems (OS, virtualization, cloud stacks, AI frameworks)
- Proven experience working with OEMs, CSPs, and enterprise customers in complex technical sales cycles.
- Demonstrated ability to translate deep technical concepts into business and customer value.
- High technical credibility with strong communication skills.
- Comfortable coordinating across global, matrixed organizations.
- Strategic mindset with practical execution focus.
- Effective collaborator across cultures and regions in APJ.
