International Emerging Stores (IES) Core Shopping team's mission is to deliver a world class shopping experience for our emerging marketplace shoppers. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead engineering efforts for core shopping experiences, who is driven by ownership and a passion for solving complex, large-scale problems through creative solutions. Our team is GenAI-first, utilizing Generative AI extensively to enhance engineering productivity and drive new feature launches.
As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team of talented engineers and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our systems, our business, and—most importantly—our customers' experiences. You'll tackle challenges that have the potential to redefine the e-commerce industry and deliver solutions that operate at an unprecedented scale.
The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, developing complex distributed systems, and driving large-scale projects from concept to delivery. You possess strong technical depth, exceptional project management and communication skills, and drive to achieve results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key job responsibilities
Build and manage a team of industry-leading software engineers focused on GenAI-powered shopping experiences
Foster career growth and a strong team culture centered on innovation and customer obsession
Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff
Drive the technical vision and architecture for AI/ML-powered shopping experiences at scale
Own all operational metrics and support for your team's software
Manage the agile development process to deliver incremental value to customers
Partner with Product Management, Design, Science, and Business teams to define and execute product strategy for core shopping features
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
