The AWS Infrastructure Finance team provides end-to-end financial support, driving AWS to be the lowest cost provider in cloud computing. We are looking for a Finance Manager to join the AWS Energy & Sustainability Finance team within the AWS Infrastructure Finance organization.
AWS's sustainability mission is one of the most consequential financial programs in the company. The AWS Energy & Sustainability team is responsible for (1) delivering energy to AWS data centers, (2) procuring carbon-free energy to support our sustainability goals, and (3) developing our global sustainability and CFE strategy. This role sits at the intersection of finance, energy markets, and sustainability strategy, owning the financial oversight of Amazon's global renewable energy and carbon-free energy portfolio.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Own financial planning, analysis, and controllership for AWS's global sustainability and carbon-free energy portfolio, including renewable energy PPAs, RECs, and carbon programs
- Lead financial evaluation of sustainability-related investments and programs, developing models to assess deal economics, risks, and portfolio-level returns
- Build and maintain reporting frameworks for sustainability opex and capex, including REC compliance costs, CFE performance, and renewable energy contract settlements
- Partner with the sustainability business team, accounting, legal, and technical product teams to support month-end close, quarterly reviews, and long-range planning
- Develop deep expertise in renewable energy markets, RPS compliance mechanisms, carbon markets, and the financial structures underlying long-term CFE agreements
- Drive automation and process improvements to scale financial reporting as the portfolio grows
- Provide strategic financial recommendations to senior leadership on sustainability investments, CFE procurement strategy, and portfolio optimization
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual business reviews for VP level audiences
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience in energy, sustainability, or infrastructure finance
- Understanding of renewable energy markets, carbon-free energy frameworks, RPS compliance, or sustainability reporting
