Amazon is seeking a Design Director to focus on one of Amazon’s newest offerings: Haul. You will be responsible for creating and sustaining design direction for Haul and guiding a team of designers to develop impactful work that delights our customers across all channels. This role requires exceptional creative leadership and strategic thinking to solve complex marketing asks through a creative lens.

Key job responsibilities
As a Design Director you will mentor designers and collaborate with leadership and cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate will exhibit an exceptional design eye, collaborative mindset, high judgement, bias for action, and ability to deliver results.

  • Oversee design direction for Haul programs across email, site, push, paid, social and homepage
  • Mentor and develop designers through design reviews and cultivate a culture of continuous learning, improvement and self-sufficiency
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging marketing trends and GenAI innovations into the creative strategy and execution
  • Lead ideation sessions and design reviews
  • Proactively solve problems on behalf of the team, seeking clarification when faced with ambiguity and escalating as necessary
  • Communicate with key stakeholders internally and externally in a spirit of collaboration, building strong relationships, and articulating complex issues/problems effectively.

The Amazon North America Creative team is responsible for crafting bold, efficient, and breakthrough marketing content to reach and resonate with today’s audience. We aspire to meet customers wherever they may be—on social media, on their phones, across the site, in their inboxes—and provide easy ingresses to the site via beautiful, inclusive, inspiring and innovative content. We believe in creative that speaks to our customers, reinforces the Amazon brand promises (selection, value, and convenience) and highlights our best offerings—be that top brands, offers, member benefits, etc—while driving the business forward and meeting our marketing goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of driving compelling creative strategy and execution at an agency or in-house creative team experience
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote
  • Experience developing cross-functional relationships with product, consumer research and marketing teams to develop strategy and consumer insights that drive compelling creative executions
  • Experience leading creative development of innovative creative from concept to delivery
  • Experience managing creative (internal team of designers, copywriters, external agencies and freelancers)
  • Experience presenting creative concepts effectively to senior executives
  • Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
