The Amazon Energy Portfolio Operations (EPO) team was established to manage Amazon's energy supply contracts post execution, provide controllership and governance for energy spend, track environmental attributes and ensure our portfolio is compliant with regulations, obligations as well as internal policies. The team is responsible for managing the operations of the world's largest corporate renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) portfolio as well as our growing Portfolio of Energy Supply Agreements (ESAs) for Amazon Data Centers globally.

We are seeking an individual to join our team as an Energy Compliance and Risk Manager and focus on energy regulatory compliance fulfillment globally. This tactical role will be responsible for defining, tracking, testing, completing and monitoring risk controls across multiple regulatory frameworks including FERC, NERC, EMIR, REMIT, SOX, and other energy market regulations. The ideal candidate will have deep subject matter expertise in energy compliance and the ability to execute complex compliance programs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key job responsibilities
You will execute energy-related compliance activities globally across FERC, NERC, EMIR, REMIT, SOX and other regulatory frameworks, collaborating with energy, sustainability and datacenter teams to ensure adherence to all applicable obligations. This includes defining, tracking, testing, completing and monitoring risk controls to ensure business operations continuity in energy markets, while maintaining compliance baselines and incorporating regulatory and legislative changes into standard operating procedures. You will support diligence, setup and preparation for entering new energy markets by creating compliance baselines and coordinating data integration requirements for market participation.

You will establish and monitor operating guardrails for energy operations as part of risk management activities, conducting regular testing and validation of control effectiveness while mitigating immediate compliance risks and escalating appropriately when needed. Your role includes establishing compliance performance indicators and creating clear documentation including compliance procedures, risk assessments, and audit materials for internal and external audits. You will identify and optimize compliance procedures and operational excellence best practices, drive execution of initiatives to improve energy operations and reporting, and continuously seek to invent and simplify to generate scale effect for Amazon's management of its energy portfolio.

You will work collaboratively with AWS and Amazon teams to support management of energy programs, communicating compliance requirements and negotiating priorities with stakeholders while providing detailed regulatory and compliance knowledge to engineering, program management, and business teams. This includes fostering shared understanding of compliance obligations across partner teams, partnering with other teams to identify and drive operational efficiencies, and maintaining audit-ready records that demonstrate control effectiveness and regulatory adherence across the world's largest corporate renewable PPAs and ESA portfolio.
