About the role

Amazon is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Global Tax Controversy Team. This is a unique role that will focus on two core geographies: EMEA and Lat Am. This role will manage tax controversy matters, including transfer pricing and Advanced Pricing Agreement (APA) disputes, Mutual Agreement Procedures (MAP), and tax litigation in connection with both corporate income tax and VAT issues. The right candidate for this role is someone who is comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, ready to roll up their sleeves and dive deep to deliver impactful results on multiple ongoing projects with competing deadlines.

Key job responsibilities
You will be responsible for actively managering tax controversies, APAs/MAPs, and tax litigation matters across EMEA and Lat Am. You will determine strategy and approach for these matters, direclty engaging with tax authorities and outside advisors. This role requires some international travel and you will be partnering with other members of the Amazon tax team handling various tax matters including transfer pricing, international tax issues, mergers and acquisitions, and tax compliance. This role will also coordinate and liaise with the Amazon Legal team on tax litigation matters.

Given this role's Lat Am focus, Spanish language skills are preferred, but not required.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries
  • Experience in supporting audit defense
  • Master's degree
  • J.D., or CPA
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
