The role of a Prototyping Engineer is to apply these methods to assemble and deliver technology and business outcomes for the world’s leading clients.

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the AWS Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Prototyping and Cloud Engineering team. As part of an agile AI enabled development team you will support AWS customers to develop prototypes specific to their articulated strategic vision for new products and services.

The prototyping team is a hands-on team of cross functional developers supporting AWS customers to build rapid MVP experiments adapted to their specific, innovation focused, use cases. The job will cover the Australia and New Zealand geography, with some traveling to customer sites.

Key job responsibilities
In this position, you will play a pivotal role in building ground breaking capabilities, maintaining operational excellence through a strong Amazonian devops culture, and championing the needs of the customer.

We are seeking passionate Software Engineers with proven and demonstrable skill and expert knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation, large scale automation and workflow management, database design and implementation, API design and implementation and security. Key language skills Python, Javascript/Typescript.

The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering experiences that delight customers and creating technology outcomes that are robust. A commitment to team work, agility and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance technical outcomes requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. This person has thrived and succeeded in fast paced environment where learning new concepts quickly is a must.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
• 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS technologies
• Experience in IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries
• Experience building GenAI applications
