The Amazon Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, all working to innovate in quantum computing for the benefit of our customers.

We are looking to hire an Applied Scientist to design and model novel superconducting quantum devices (including qubits), readout and control schemes, and advanced quantum processors. The ideal candidate will have a track record of original scientific contributions, strong engineering principles, and/or software development experience. Resourcefulness, as well as strong organizational and communication skills, is essential.

Basic Qualifications

• PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics
• Knowledge of quantum mechanics, with expertise in at least one of the following topics: quantum technologies (sensing, communications, computing, etc.) superconducting qubits, hybrid quantum acoustic devices, cavity/circuit QED, quantum optics, open quantum systems, superconductivity (phenomenology or microscopic theory)
• Proficient in a scientific programming environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with microwave and/or multiphysics modeling software (one or more of COMSOL, Sonnet, Microwave Office, ANSYS, Keysight ADS, Cadence AWR, Palace, etc.)
• Experience with device layout scripting and automation
• Effective working in a team environment with engineers, scientists and technicians who have a wide range of technical skill levels
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
