Sr Program Manager, Global Finance Transformation (GFT)
Join our Global Finance Transformation Program at Amazon where you'll drive efficiency through process improvement and automation projects for the Accounting function. As a Sr Program Manager, you'll leverage your expertise in program management, change management, and stakeholder management to deliver flexible, scalable solutions in a complex, global environment. You'll collaborate with project Subject Matter Experts, multiple IT teams, and Accounting and Compliance stakeholders to invent and simplify processes that meet our customers' needs. This role requires exceptional people skills and the ability to integrate technology with processes in highly ambiguous situations. Your impact will be significant as you manage multiple global programs with diverse customer groups, creating a 'One Team' virtual working environment while accelerating financial close, driving compliance, and increasing efficiency across the organization.
- Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Accounting stakeholders to drive strategic process improvement initiatives, build frameworks for new program launches, and assess return on investment for various automation opportunities.
- Manage multiple global projects in parallel, using both Traditional and Agile methodologies to agree on prioritization/backlogs with the Global Finance Transformation lead, plan scope and capacity, and manage execution through to delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, creating a collaborative 'One Team' environment that harmonizes contributors across multiple IT teams and Accounting functions.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements through standardization and automation of cross-team accounting processes and policies to accelerate financial close and enhance compliance.
- Solve complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, business insights, and recommendations that influence leaders throughout Amazon.
A day in the life
Your day begins with checking progress on your portfolio of process improvement and automation projects. You'll connect with your global team through virtual meetings to address roadblocks and align priorities. Throughout the day, you'll engage with Accounting function stakeholders to gather requirements, facilitate discussions between IT teams and business users, and ensure solutions meet compliance standards. You'll toggle between Traditional and Agile methodologies as you manage project backlogs, coordinate resources, and track deliverables. Building relationships is central to your role as you navigate complex organizational structures to bring the right people together.
About the team
We are a Global Finance Transformation Program working across the Amazon Accounting team. Our goal is to improve our accounting colleagues experience while accelerating financial close, driving compliance and increasing efficiency. This is to be achieved through process improvement projects leveraging standardization and automation of cross-team accounting processes and policies. We are looking for a team member who is interested in driving efficiency and can collaborate in our fast-paced global organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or a Bachelor's degree and experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and initiatives
- 8+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience driving continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred
