Amazon Corporate Network Automation Engineering Team owns automation for the deployment of every product and service that Network Engineering teams design and produce.In other words, we’re the people who keep the keep all the Amazon offices connected. Amazon Corporate Network Automation Engineering provides mission-critical global connectivity for internal services and business applications, infrastructure equipment, and 1,000,000+ internal users. In this role you will look for innovative and creative ways to design, automate and scale our next-generation network architectures.

Amazon Corporate Network Automation Engineering team's mission is to maximize network availability and eliminate work required by humans. We build and own: telemetry systems that can monitor, alert and remediate networking events; foundational services that support network devices (think ingestion and enrichment of millions of logs per minute) at scale; and systems that allow us to rapidly configure, deploy and scale our network. Key job responsibilities
As a Network Development Engineer working within Amazon Corporate Network you will.

  • Automating the deployment of network devices gateways using infrastructure as a code across all of our network fabrics using automation such as CDK, Python.
  • Be responsible for automating the deployment of network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports AWS services.
  • Be responsible for designing the next generation of Security/Edge network using Cloud based technologies such as AWS CloudWAN, Transit Gateway,NAT gateways , ANF, DX Gateways, Lambda and other virtual Gateways to serve 500+ offices.
  • Deploy, scale and automate our network across many Office and CPOP locations. This includes existing footprints and new locations.
  • Work closely with our automation teams in defining the platforms and frameworks that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.
  • Create and review documentation and process regarding network. implementation/deployments, recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.
  • Leads design, network/code and security reviews across teams to identify risks and prevent classes of bugs prior to production release.

A day in the life
Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and time management skills and has a successful track record of designing simple, scalable solutions and troubleshooting complex network problems and delivering innovative solutions. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential.

About the team
As a part of Amazon Corporate Network Automation, we are responsible for Edge Network which connects 500+ remote offices to the Core network as well as into AWS cloud. We own the network standards, deployment mechanisms, automation and delivery of large programs, including AWS VPC transit gateway based networks that connect our traditional networks to Native AWS.

We also own writing the automation for automatic deployment of configuration and Operating systems to scale of 10k's of devices in the Enterprise network.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
