Prime Video is a premium streaming service that offers customers a vast collection of TV shows and movies - all with the ease of finding what they love to watch in one place.

We are seeking a skilled Language Specialist to join our team in the Tokyo Office on a 12-month contract basis, with a focus on the Spanish (Latin America) language. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing language assets' logic and coherence, grammar and punctuation, spelling, consistency, style, language usage, and formatting, improving customer streaming experience with Amazon language solutions. Tasks may include proofreading and editing subtitles, metadata, and a variety of other written communications.

IMPORTANT: This is not a remote position, you are required to work on site. Open to native Latin American Spanish-speaking applicants expected to work from the Tokyo Office.

Employment Period: Fixed-term (12 months or longer)

Contract Renewal: May be renewed (Decision will be based on workload at contract expiration, work performance, attitude, capabilities, attendance, compliance with work rules (safety, quality, etc.), health condition, company's business situation, occurrence of surplus personnel, progress of assigned duties, presence of grounds for dismissal, and all other circumstances that may affect the renewal decision.)

Maximum Total Employment Period: Yes (Even if the contract is renewed, the employment period will be limited to the end of the month prior to the month in which 5 years is reached from the employment start date based on the initially concluded employment contract. However, if the 5-year date falls on the last day of a month, that day will be the employment period limit. Note that this provision does not guarantee employment for 5 years.)

  • Conduct Linguistic Quality Assurance checks on audio, subtitles, narratives, video, and artwork to ensure overall content quality
  • Support the implementation of language-related processes to ensure consistency and quality of Latin American Spanish language services
  • Collaborate with team members to understand language requirements and deliver quality results
  • Stay current with best practices in language services, particularly related to the streaming and entertainment industry
  • Contribute to the improvement of language processes and workflows
  • Share knowledge and support other team members on Latin American Spanish language-related matters

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Native level proficiency in Latin American Spanish and fluency in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with moderate guidance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing Latin American Spanish Linguistic Quality Assurance services, including translation or linguistic support
  • Translation or proofreading experience in various formats, including documents and timed texts
  • Interest in the media and entertainment industry, particularly streaming services
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
