About the role

Amazon seeks an Tax Manager to be a part of the Tax Compliance Team.

Primary Duties:

  • Own and drive tax operations (compliance)
  • Manage and support day-to-day tax compliance activities regarding PIS, COFINS, ICMS, ICMS ST, EC, IPI, and ISS.
  • Crosscheck and validate tax obligations
  • Proactively identify tax optimization and savings opportunities, document, implement, and improve processes/procedures for tax compliance
  • Work with stakeholders including Accounting to prepare tax calculation records and ensure accuracy of tax returns
  • Interface with business partners, accounting, finance to calculate taxes and operationalize tax compliance
  • Update and control tax dashboards monthly
  • Manage and support tax audit, help attend to tax authorities, government agencies on tax assessments and relevant tax issues
  • Help coordinate and review activities of tax contractors when necessary
  • Help prepare tax requirements for a variety of projects and perform tests.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Brazilian tax reform; active involvement in the implementation is a strong differentiator.
  • Strong communicator, able to translate complex tax matters into simple, clear, business-oriented insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Technology-oriented and efficiency driven, always looking for better, faster, and more efficient ways to improve tax processes.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous and fast-changing environments, with the ability to balance risk management and business impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Analytics, or a related field
  • Speak, write and read fluently in English
  • Brazilian corporate and indirect tax experience with a public accounting firm, major law firm, and/or in industry, preferably a multinational corporation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standards
  • Experience with end-to-end ownership of major project deliverables
  • Knowledge of Excel skills to be able to refine data and prepare business reports
  • Knowledge of ERP and procurement tools, including Oracle, Coupa and Ariba
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and review data with a focus on tax compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
