We are looking for a Sr. Software Development Manager (Sr. SDM) to drive the experience for Amazonians to get support on any of their needs. Sr. SDM will lead the team and the technical vision for innovative solutions managing and securing access to Amazon's resources. As a leader of the team, you will own the strategic roadmap, the architecture and vision for the products and you will provide hands on technical leadership to the team. You will have the opportunity to learn about various Amazon businesses and technologies.
Successful candidates for this position must have experience in growing and coaching a highly qualified team of software engineers. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
- As a Senior Software Development Manager, you will own the creation and delivery of an exciting product roadmap, work closely with network engineers that build and manage A to Z.
- Hire and develop a strong and highly effective team
- Lead an organization of senior and junior engineers responsible for the development of highly-scalable, highly-available and secure services.
- Be a champion for operational excellence: insist on the highest standards and service code that helps continuously improve availability and reliability of our service.
- Create project plans and commitments for yourself and your team, then deliver consistently against those commitments.
- Drive the architecture and technology choices for existing and new services.
- You will engage, influence, and align peers and senior leaders on product vision, roadmap, and investment.
- Ability to translate abstract requirements into clear deliverables and drive initiatives from inception through launch.
- Comfortable working in an environment that moves fast, incorporate input from various stakeholders into building a product strategy and message you present to our customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
