
DCO Field Technician, Global Field Operations

Amazon Web Services Japan, Global Field Operations (GFO) provides the best end-to-end support for AWS products and services in non-traditional environments including Outposts Services. AWS GFO brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or customer on-premises facility and edge sites. Customers can now use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across their on-premises and the AWS cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience.
We are looking for a GFO DCO Field Technician who is an experienced and highly motivated Data Center Technician to install and support AWS deployments in non-traditional environments. As a GFO technician, you will maintain and operate the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure across a number of local and remote locations within Japan and APJC region.
Key job responsibilities
This is a customer-facing role that requires strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your activities will include (but not limited to):
Key Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with internal teams and customers along with innovating effective solutions to meet issues & problems as they arise
- Conducting site assessments at various facilities
- Installing/expanding/provisioning AWS infrastructure at the third-party premises & AWS data center
- Troubleshooting network installations & configurations and performing network testing, break/fix and/or decommissioning and solving complex problems
- Proactively identifying and implementing strategies that prevent support issues and/or further enhance the customer experience
- May lead or participate in efforts to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tools that improve operational efficiencies
- May lead larger projects that require cross-functional alignment and support, including large-DC installations, global-reaching business initiatives, and/or development of mechanisms to support growth to ensure compliance with global group standards.
- Required travel up to 50% on average - domestic and international. You will be required to travel between locations to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment.
- Identify and apply automation techniques and leverage AI tools to drive innovative solutions for business challenges.
- English and Japanese language proficiency is required (speaking, reading, and writing)•

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
- 2+ years of data center experience
- 2+ years of computer networking experience, or experience with Network Protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in client or vendor facing roles with a focus in relationship management and negotiation skills
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems and experience in managing and troublshooting network
- Experience in project management
- Degree in a technical field or 4+ years of relevant work experience in a data center operations environment
- Understanding of power feeds/redundancy, ATS, hot/cold aisles, rack build/installation, networking hardware (cabling, switches, servers), inventory management, and associated troubleshooting
- Proficiency in network operating systems (Cisco, Junos) & basic understanding of Linux/Unix configuration
- Automation skills and experience
- Familiarity with AI tools and their application
