About the role

Are you an experienced engineer excited to build AI-first products that solve real operational and developer pain points at scale?

Do you want to drive technical ownership across systems that improve builder productivity, automate workflows, strengthen tech hygiene, and accelerate operational excellence across Transportation?

REALM is looking for a Software Development Engineer II to design and deliver intelligent platforms, agents, and developer experiences that redefine how teams build, operate, and innovate.

Key job responsibilities

Own Technical Delivery

  • Design and implement significant features for AI-first developer productivity platforms, intelligent automation systems, and operational tooling within REALM
  • Take end-to-end ownership of components and services, from architecture and development through deployment, observability, and operational excellence
  • Write high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code that supports organization-wide adoption across Transportation teams
  • Build data pipelines, analytics systems, and visualization experiences that generate actionable insights into engineering health, operational metrics, and builder productivity
  • Contribute to technical architecture decisions across REALM products, agents, and platform capabilities

Grow Your Technical Skills

  • Participate in design reviews and learn distributed system architecture from senior engineers and Principal Engineers
  • Develop expertise in AWS services, AI-enabled developer tooling, distributed systems, and operational excellence practices
  • Gain hands-on experience building intelligent workflows, metrics platforms, automation systems, and developer-facing products
  • Learn to balance speed, scalability, and long-term technical tradeoffs while making pragmatic engineering decisions
  • Strengthen skills in technical communication, product thinking, and cross-functional collaboration

Collaborate and Influence

  • Work closely with partner teams to understand operational pain points and identify opportunities for AI-driven productivity improvements
  • Collaborate with engineers across levels and provide technical guidance on implementation approaches and system design
  • Partner with senior engineers to break down ambiguous problems and deliver iterative, high-impact solutions
  • Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and engineering best practices
  • Help drive adoption of REALM platforms, developer experiences, and AI-powered tooling across the organization

Operational Ownership

  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the health, reliability, and scalability of the systems you build
  • Respond to operational issues, analyze root causes, and implement long-term fixes
  • Use metrics, telemetry, and data-driven insights to continuously identify improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to operational excellence initiatives, on-call rotations, and incident response processes

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
