Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Security Experiences
About the role
Are you interested in building software security solutions that protect systems and data across an entire enterprise? Are you interested in working backwards from the customer to ensure you're solving the right problems? We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to help us build the next generation of security automation, capable of securing systems and resources on a massive scale, powered entirely by AWS. If you are not an AWS power-user, you will be after working with us.
The Amazon Security Experiences (ASE) team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our team and build mission-critical systems that protect Amazon at scale.
Our organization is responsible for the protection of customer and corporate data. We're connected to all parts of Amazon's business and its massive, worldwide service-oriented architecture. We enable the Amazon business to build, architect, and operate their enterprise-scale systems securely on AWS.
ASE is building a single security platform for Amazon where builders, security engineers, and automation systems can manage security reviews and security issues through UI, API, and agentic experiences. In 2026, we are converging multiple issue management and security review tools—Shepherd, Mirador, Talos, Workbench, and Sauron—into a unified platform that becomes the single source of truth for all security issues across Amazon.
This role puts you at the forefront of agentic AI innovation. We are building agentic flows that remove friction from security workflows: builders interact with security tooling through the agents and AI environments they already use, rather than navigating separate surfaces to view issues, request extensions, file exceptions, or manage security reviews. You will design and build MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that enable any Amazon builder to install and access their prioritized security issues within their AI environment, develop agent skills (like "triage my open issues"), and expand into write actions that allow agents to take action on behalf of builders. This is a greenfield opportunity to help define how AI agents interact with security platforms at Amazon-wide scale.
Our problem space presents the opportunity to innovate in areas such as enterprise-scale resource management in the cloud, real-time cloud intelligence, building systems that make it easy for service owners to build and maintain secure systems, and pioneering agentic and AI-native experiences for security engineering. You will own and deliver features end-to-end, contribute to system design, and collaborate with experienced engineers to solve complex problems at scale. You will also have the unique opportunity to provide inputs to the next generation of AWS services by representing one of its largest enterprise customers, Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer on the team you will:
- be an autonomous contributor across all the software the team owns.
- deliver features which directly impact the customer experience spanning from frontend website to backend services
- work backwards from our customer to software design, implementation, testing, and deployment, operations, and documentation.
- contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations
- demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
- deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment
