  • AWS is seeking an exceptional Director, Amazon Energy & Water
  • EMEA to lead our energy strategy and operations across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of renewable energy, data center infrastructure, and climate innovation - driving AWS's commitment to power our operations with 100% renewable energy while delivering world-class reliability and cost efficiency.

As Director, you will lead a team of energy professionals responsible for:

  • Delivering renewable energy solutions that advance Amazon's Climate Pledge and 100% renewable energy goals

  • Ensuring reliable, resilient energy infrastructure supporting AWS's rapidly expanding EMEA data center footprint

  • Driving innovation and cost optimization in power delivery, grid integration, and energy procurement

  • Shaping energy policy and partnerships across diverse regulatory environments and energy markets

About the Team:

The AWS Energy team is responsible for ensuring reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective power delivery to AWS data centers worldwide. We work at the forefront of renewable energy innovation, partnering with utilities, developers, and technology providers to transform how data centers are powered. Our EMEA team operates across diverse energy markets, regulatory environments, and cultural contexts—requiring deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional collaboration skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Economics, Engineering, or other related degree
  • 10+ years of professional experience in sustainability, energy or comparable fields
  • Project / technical program management experience and a track record of delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality
  • Strong organizational building, team and people management experience
  • Experience working with stakeholders across both technical and business functions
  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Have a results orientated approach, strong analytical skill set and financial acumen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with development and execution of large scale global/regional energy strategies
  • Track record of identifying and executing on innovative renewable generation projects
  • Experience with the successful development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities
  • Experience managing energy projects against plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met, delivering against cost savings and sustainability goals
  • Experience working with utility regulators and governments to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader companywide strategies and objectives
