Head of Vendor Management, Amazon Retail Consumables
Amazon Retail Consumables is seeking a driven, experienced business leader to lead Vendor Management.
This senior leader will be a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon, with proven ability to negotiate complex business terms, develop and manage relationships, drive results and demonstrate competency with business and financial analytics. The successful candidate must be an effective leader and communicator (both written and verbal), working with some of Amazon's most important vendors, as well as with internal cross-functional teams. The role requires experience hiring and developing high performing teams.
The role manages the team responsible for P&L management, vendor relationships, negotiations, and day to day business leadership, with accountability for meeting revenue, profitability, selection and process/efficiency improvement targets. This senior leader will excel in analytics, developing people, making data-driven decisions, process improvements, and negotiations/buying, with a proven track record of delivering results both within and outside the organization. The role offers the opportunity to utilize and expand skills in e-commerce business leadership, vendor negotiations, and ultimately in running a large online retail business.
You will contribute towards the scalability of the business while maintaining a strong customer focus. You will work closely with the vendor management teams in other channels to share best practices, build vendor negotiation strategies and achieve favorable terms from shared vendors.
- Key job responsibilities
- Contribute to mid to long-term strategy and goals for the Amazon Retail Consumables
- Lead strategy and management of complex vendor negotiations
- Talent management of the vendor management team which includes effectively hiring and developing the best talent
- Be responsible for the following areas of business management: promotional campaigns, in-stock management (in close relationship with the In-stock Management team), product development, and vendor performance communications
- Set up a category procurement strategy along with in-stock teams and drive continuous process improvements, such as improving vendor lead times and service levels.
- Turn in-depth analysis into strategic insight and action
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in team management
- Experience in account management, project/program management, or buying
- Experience with vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion or inventory management
- Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
- Experience at a senior level in the fashion industry ideally in an e-commerce, retail, key account management or consulting role
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
