You will lead a team of DE's and BIE’s as part of the Data Engineering and Analytics team in the e Commerce Services org.
In e Commerce Services (eCS), we build systems that span the full range of e Commerce functionality, from Privacy, Identity, Purchase Experience and Ordering to Shipping, Tax and Financial integration. e Commerce Services manages several aspects of the customer life cycle, starting from account creation and sign in, to placing items in the shopping cart, proceeding through checkout, order processing, managing order history and post-fulfillment actions such as refunds and tax invoices. eCS services determine sales tax and shipping charges, and we ensure the privacy of our customers. Our mission is to provide a commerce foundation that accelerates business innovation and delivers a secure, available, performant, and reliable shopping experience to Amazon’s customers.
We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled individual to lead a team of Data and Business Intelligence Engineers. The ideal candidate will be an analytical, results-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused engineering leader who will play a key role in continuous improvement for the critical systems that enable our entire retail business. The role will also include surfacing key product metrics as well as building critical data pipelines and analytics tools to improve efficiency and quality of strategic business decisions.
Key job responsibilities
- Hire, manage, and coach a team of Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers and Business Analysts.
- Engage with leadership and diversified customer groups to understand the needs and recommend business intelligence solutions.
- Strong leadership, vision and passion to build and drive a data engineering and business intelligence team to create changes in business partnerships, analytics, and metrics/reporting.
- Drive the design, development and implementation of our analytics to provide stakeholders with structured access to data.
- Champion proper adoption of self-service analytic tools and reporting environments.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards that monitor and to drive key business decisions.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience managing a data or BI team
- Experience leading and influencing the data or BI strategy of your team or organization
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift, S3, EC2)
