About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Optical Engineer to join our team in developing next-generation consumer products. As a key member of our cross-disciplinary staff, you will leverage your expertise in optical simulation and design to drive product innovation from concept to execution.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, physics, or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in optical design and simulation.
- Experience with optical simulation software (Light Tools, Zemax, RSoft, Fred, SPEOS…)
- Comprehensive knowledge of optical system, display optics, and visual optics.
- Strong skill in scripting (Python, MATLAB…).
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of consumer electronics experience
- Experience with CAD modelling software, such as Solidworks or MATLAB
- Experience in scripting using optical simulation software APIs and/or macros.
- Experience with design and development of optical systems requiring a combination of illumination, imaging, stray light mitigation, radiometry/photometry, holographic/diffractive optics.
- Experience with AR/VR optics include transparent displays such as waveguide displays.
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Knowledge on display manufacturing.
- Experience with leverage AI tools for engineering solutions.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
