The Algorithms team is responsible for developing algorithms & building infrastructure to host Science models that improves reading experience. We work across the diverse Kindle Technologies & latest Science technologies across teams to deliver the delighting experience for our customers on time. We look at optimizations for builders (engineers) in the software development lifecycle is and bring positive impact to large engineering community.

We own the E2E systems from the Algorithms, Model building, System Infrastructure, Dashboards for Author/Publishers, Data stores for Quality issues, Testing Team & maintenance of the same. We expect the Manager to be proficient with building Distributed systems & have good knowledge on ML model building to help grow the engineers. We will have Software Development Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers & Business Intelligence Engineers/Data Engineers reporting to him/her giving the complete functional unit Ownership. You work very closely with the Science team.

You will participate in the planning and execution of technology projects and operational excellence initiatives. You’ll also manage and build a team of world class engineers in employing strong design and implementation practices. You will be participating in creating vision and influence product road-map across multiple stakeholders.
You will be expected to have an established background in building highly scalable systems and applications, great communication skills, strong people management skills and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
