About the role

Alameda is the next generation control plane as a service operating more than 14 AWS Services. Just like EC2, EBS, and RDS modernized compute, storage and databases, Alameda provides a modernize AWS scaled and secured building blocks (API, Workflows, Telemetry...) that lets developers focus on writing core business value. Alameda removes the undifferentiated lift of writing services, while simultaneously providing secure by default, AWS scaled runtime services.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will build foundational software features and components that power large-scale distributed systems operating at Amazon scale. Working under the guidance of principle and senior engineers, you will grow your technical skills in system design, coding best practices, and operational excellence. You will contribute to team success through code reviews, design discussions, and collaborative problem-solving while delivering high-quality solutions. You will gain hands-on production ownership by debugging issues, supporting deployments, and participating in on-call rotations to understand the end-to-end system lifecycle. Your work will solve real, meaningful challenges that protect customers and brands from supply chain defects globally.

  • Design and implement complex, scalable software systems and robust APIs
  • Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish best practices
  • Make architectural trade-offs balancing business needs and technical constraints
  • Ensure system reliability, security, and scalability in production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirements and roadmap execution
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and participate in on-call rotations
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and provide escalation management

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
