About the Team:

The Broker Relations Team, which is responsible for developing and managing relationships within the global sell-side research community, sits within Alpha Sense’s Content Team, which is responsible for identifying, creating, licensing and integrating best-in-class content/data. The Content Team, led by the Chief Content Officer, oversees the strategy, product management and support responsibilities for each Content vertical. We value and uphold transparency, trust and accountability in our relationships within the team as well as with internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role:

Alpha Sense seeks an individual to grow its sell-side content collection within EMEA. This individual will engage with key research stakeholders within Sell-side and Independent Research Firms (e.g. Head of Research, Research COO, Head of Operations and Distribution) to pitch the value proposition of research contribution to Alpha Sense, handle objections and negotiate distribution agreement terms. As well as bringing on new contributors, this individual will manage all aspects of the relationship and be the key contact point for Alpha Sense.

The successful applicant will have an in-depth knowledge of the research written and distributed by Sell-Side Research Departments and Independent Research Firms. Understanding the workflows and entitlement requirements of the contributing firms and consumers (buy-side/sell-side, investment banking, consultants, corporates and other client types) is essential. This individual strives to deeply understand what research and data matters to these users and delivers new content and related partnerships to meet those desires.

Who You Are:

8 to 10 years experience in financial services at a research/content vendor, sell-side or independent research firm, with specific focus on sell-side Investment Research is required

Solid existing senior relationships with and knowledge of a variety of research/content providers

Strong experience with commercial and contractual negotiation with research contributors, including ability to creatively navigate through complex commercial terms and blockers to result in mutually agreeable and beneficial terms for all parties

Effective communication skills working and external broker contacts at all levels and internal colleagues

Subject-matter expertise with research feeds, metadata, assorted document, and research delivery types a plus

A self-starter who is team oriented but can work independently and manage a small team

Experience working with globally distributed teams in different time zones

Strong analytical skills and outstanding attention to detail

A superior ability to set priorities, stay focused and meet deadlines

Solid Microsoft Office, Google Sheets/Google Docs/Google Slides and Sales Force experience

What You’ll Do:

Develop new relationships and manage ongoing relationships with key decision makers (DOR, COO and Research Distribution Managers) at the key Sell-Side Research Departments and Independent Research Firms throughout EMEA

Prospect for new research sources and partners, creating and maintaining a constant pipeline of opportunities

Meet content acquisition and retention goals as set with the Global Head of Broker Relations and the CCO.

Introduce ideas for new research/content to be considered for integration into the Alpha Sense product

Negotiate commercial and contractual arrangements with new research/content partners

Manage renewals and renegotiation as necessary with existing research/content partners

Assist in project management of partnership initiatives with research/content providers

Analyse other relevant competing products in the market and interact with customers to understand their workflows and pain points and gather and document actionable feedback

In coordination with the research product managers and other stakeholders, contribute to the successful launch of research/content into the market, including the creation of announcements, marketing collateral, documentation, user training and internal training

Monitor contributor research usage within the Alpha Sense products

Communicate quarterly royalty payment and usage reports with Contributors

Track industry trends and deliver competitive intelligence to better evolve product vision.
