ASSISTANT PRODUCE MANAGER — DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESDepartment Leadership & Operations

  • Assist the Produce Manager in daily department operations, including planning, organizing, and directing workflow.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked produce department that meets company merchandising and presentation standards.

  • Ensure proper product rotation, quality checks, and timely removal of unsellable product.

  • Help manage shrink by monitoring handling, production levels, storage, and merchandising practices.

Customer Service

  • Provide exceptional customer service by engaging customers, answering questions, and offering product knowledge.

  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Support a welcoming, service‑oriented environment for shoppers.

Merchandising & Inventory

  • Assist with merchandising plans, ad sets, and seasonal product placement.

  • Help maintain accurate inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and verifying shipments.

  • Ensure proper signage, pricing accuracy, and promotional displays.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including:

  • Food safety and sanitation

  • OSHA and safety regulations

  • Temperature logs and storage procedures

  • Health department standards

  • Maintain safe working conditions by identifying and reporting hazards.

Team Support & Training

  • Help oversee produce department staff, including task delegation and daily work direction.

  • Support training of new associates on department standards, safety, quality checks, and customer service expectations.

  • Assist with monitoring performance and helping reinforce proper procedures.

Administrative & Support Duties

  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and production planning as assigned by the Produce Manager.

  • Support execution of daily, weekly, and monthly operational checklists.

  • Communicate department issues, product needs, and performance concerns to the Produce Manager and Store Director.

Other Responsibilities

  • Uphold company standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by store leadership.
