About the role
POSITION PURPOSE
The Bakery Manager is responsible for leading all bakery department operations to achieve sales, quality, inventory, and customer service goals. This role oversees production, merchandising, food safety, and associate development while ensuring consistent execution of company standards and delivering a high‑quality bakery experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESDepartment Leadership & Associate Development
- Lead, train, coach, and develop bakery associates to meet performance, production, and service expectations.
- Schedule labor effectively to support production needs while controlling labor costs.
- Maintain accountability for attendance, productivity, food safety, and policy compliance.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of bakery associates.
Bakery Operations & Production
- Oversee daily bakery operations, including production schedules, baking, decorating, packaging, and merchandising.
- Ensure consistent quality, freshness, and presentation of all bakery products.
- Maintain accurate recipes, production planning, and shrink control practices.
- Ensure proper ordering, receiving, rotation, and storage of ingredients and supplies.
Merchandising & Sales Performance
- Execute merchandising standards, promotional displays, pricing, and signage accurately.
- Monitor sales, shrink, production levels, and key department metrics; implement action plans to improve results.
- Identify opportunities to grow sales through innovation, seasonal items, and effective in‑stock management.
- Control department expenses, supplies, and waste to meet financial targets.
Customer Experience
- Ensure the bakery department is clean, attractive, fully stocked, and customer‑ready at all times.
- Address customer questions, special orders, and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Model and reinforce exceptional customer service behaviors.
Food Safety, Compliance & Collaboration
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and execution of company and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Store Leadership and other department managers to support overall store goals and promotions.
