What you will be doing

The Merchandising Operations Manager is responsible for supporting company and divisional initiatives related to merchandising operations, including resets, NICIs, remodels, onshelf availability, reporting, and thirdparty execution management.

This role oversees end-to-end project planning and delivery for merchandising execution initiatives—developing detailed project plans, establishing timelines, defining scope, coordinating resources, tracking milestones, and ensuring all tasks are completed on time and within operational standards. The position drives daytoday project execution, including cross functional communication, risk identification and mitigation, status reporting, and process documentation.

The Merchandising Operations Manager will lead collaboration across store operations, national category directors, division merchandising, and supplier partners to ensure consistent, accurate, and ontime merchandising execution. This includes managing workflows, optimizing execution processes, and coordinating with field teams and third-party partners to resolve issues quickly and drive continuous improvement.

This role provides a significant opportunity to shape merchandising execution transformation and improve shopping ease for customers. You will work closely with internal and external Technology teams to develop, test, and integrate emerging technologies and data science solutions—using insights, dashboards, and realtime data to enhance planning accuracy, execution quality, and operational efficiency.

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho or Pleasanton, California.

Main responsibilities:

  • Focus of this position is to oversees end-to-end project planning and delivery for merchandising execution initiatives.

  • Manage third party merchandising execution in conjunction with internal stakeholders to meet key performance indicators, foster exchange of ideas, and provide cross-team learning opportunities.

  • Manage departmental budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and provide cost benefit transparency to the National Merchandising team to optimize the return on investment.

  • Evaluate the reset process to identify potential problems, points of friction, and work to find solutions to maximize efficiency and revenue.

  • Identify merchandising opportunities to expand or shift course in order to take advantage of changes in the market

  • Ensure collaboration is maintained and supported with the National category team to ensure seamless reset execution

  • Direct and manage all reset activities in the division, including new stores, remodels, full and partial store refreshes, wave resets in a timely efficient manner to drive division merchandising strategies and sales goals.

  • Oversee the scheduling and successful execution of all approved company merchandising plans/projects for new stores, remodels, and store refreshes.

  • Champion, manage, and actively support the data integrity processes, ensuring accurate data is maintained for downstream processes and strategic decision making.

  • Manage and administer the third-party labor resource budget, and provide visibility to division management on labor use, merchandising accomplishments.

  • Provide direction and leadership to the division third party provider management team, ensuring clear direction is provided, resource needs clearly communicated, and standards set/met for all merchandising support in the division.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

  • Five years plus project and team management experience.

  • Minimum 5 years retail merchandising or operations

  • Minimum 3 years managerial and supervisory experience.

  • Extensive technical knowledge, skills, and understanding of key In House software and processes

  • Requires analytical ability to ensure accurate and thorough completion of work activities as well as for data interpretation and analysis.

  • Proven strategic management experience, transforming vision into actionable strategies.

  • Excellent project management, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation/influencing skills.

  • Ability to develop and champion new ideas and solutions.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation skills with the ability to communicate with Management.

  • Expertise in handling multiple assignments and managing competing priorities with tight deadlines.

  • Strong detail orientation. High degree of initiative and results orientation.

  • Proven management skills with ability to develop new talent.

  • Team oriented with excellent time management and organization skills.

  • Excellent Personal Computer Skills (Microsoft Programs: Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Internet)
