An opportunity for a Events & Protocol Project Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).
You will join the Sustainability and Communications team to help bring our mission of pioneering sustainable aerospace to life.
As part of the Exhibitions, Events, and Protocol team, you will shape and deliver memorable guest experiences to grow the Airbus brand and reputation at the highest level. In this aim, the Events and Protocol Manager in Spain will be in charge of managing Event and Protocol, designing, developing and executing VIP events based on the MC.CO.03 Process and M2703, Design and Deliver Corporate Events and VIP Visits manual.
Specifically, as the Events and Protocol Manager in Spain, you will design and execute high-impact VIP events, conferences, and visits (in-person, hybrid, and online).
This is a high-profile, demanding strategic role. You will be fully responsible for all VIP visits and events, interacting frequently with C-suite executives, politicians, and senior management. The role requires significant flexibility, frequent international travel, and a proactive approach to multitasking.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Brand Alignment: Ensure all events reflect Airbus’s strategic vision, safety culture, and sustainable pioneering spirit.

Guest Experience: Create a welcoming, guest-focused culture that aligns with the brand.

Protocol Management: Secure high-level protocol for contacts with government authorities, politicians, and key organizations.

Planning: Lead the global planning of VIP visits, ceremonies, and special events in Spain.

Communication: Present complex company topics in a simple, innovative, and reliable way.

Relationship Building: Proactively secure relationships with key industry, government, military, and internal stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement: Aim for excellence through teamwork, feedback, and benchmarking.

Efficiency: Constantly seek ways to simplify, digitalise, and standardise work for better cost efficiency.
MAIN ACTIVITIES

Event Organization: develop creative event strategies and coordinate logistics with all involved teams to maintain a high company image.
-
VIP Management: Coordinate the strategy for each customer or institution visit, ensuring cultural backgrounds and specific needs are respected.

External Relations: Manage relationships with local authorities in close cooperation with Public Affairs.

Brand Consistency: Harmonize the image of Airbus as a unified, integrated company.

Innovation: Participate in international working groups to improve event functions and integrate new ideas.

Supplier Management: Coordinate continuously with suppliers to set standards and workflows.

Site Management: Oversee customer and VIP visits at both Airbus facilities and off-site locations.

Leadership: Lead transversal projects and ensure all internal and external events meet quality standards.

Collaboration: Implement a harmonised approach to visits in Spain by collaborating with all stakeholders.
SKILLS
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

You have proven experience in public relations, event organization, and external stakeholder management (including events for over 500 people).

You have already gained experience in managing, coordinating, and consolidating projects, such as international conferences with participants from more than 30 countries.

We have verified the candidate's participation in the coordination of significant events, notably the Airbus 100 Fest, confirming experience with large-scale logistics and execution.

Proven experience organising and executing large-scale events, involving coordination with 15+ ambassadors, Home Office (HO) managers, and a guest base of 200+ attendees."

You have experience on Airbus visits management and coordination.

Proven experience managing high-standard protocol, including welcome lines, seating for over 20 high-ranked representatives, accompanying delegations, flags positioning, etc...

You are familiarised with military aircraft Customers, National Air Forces, Armies, Ministries of Defence, Ambassadors, etc.

You have a high level of integrity and discretio n and are used to work in confidential environments.

You are aware of the company’s Ethics and Compliance policy and events and visits standards

You have excellent communication and organization skills; you are creative and innovative and you are a team player

You are a conciliatory person, and you do not paralyse with unforeseen scenarios or surprises, including great proven reputation

You have a sound understanding of the institutional stakeholders of Airbus, including South of Spain.

You are fluent in Spanish and English. German is a plus.
