Reporting to the Director of International Benefits, the Canada Benefits Manager will support the design, execution and governance of integrated benefits, pension, savings and well-being programs that align with organizational goals, values and purpose.
The role will also support the Director and the Canada Head of HR assessing needs, evaluating cost-effectiveness opportunities, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing or assisting with audits and related activities in order to be responsive to the Company's goals and to ensure that the Company’s benefits are competitive within the Canadian market.
The incumbent will also participate in the ongoing monitoring of the benefit programs, including group insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off programs as well as pension and savings plans. This role is comprehensive, working within a fast-paced high volume environment. A successful candidate will need to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the business, become a trusted advisor and thought leader to senior business and HR leaders and work closely with our vendors to deliver exceptional employee experience with a focus of driving engagement and retention. This position is required to be on-site 4 days a week at AIG’s office in Toronto.
Major Responsibilities and Projects

Support projects that impact benefits admin, including resources planning, requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, etc. and assist with configuration updates, audits, and end-to-end testing.

Administer benefit, pension, and RRSP enrollments and maintain ongoing updates.

Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to pensions and benefits. Respond to and resolve benefits, RRSP, pension, disability, and leave-related inquiries.

Engage with key stakeholders including HR, Payroll, vendors, and employees to resolve complex issues and provide strategic recommendations to senior business and HR leaders.

Lead process improvement initiatives by identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and implementing best practices for benefits delivery.

Leverage Workday HCM and vendor platforms to analyze plan performance, identify inefficiencies, and implement enhancements that ensure accurate integrations and streamlined event processing.

Develop communication strategies that improve employee understanding and engagement with benefits, retirement and well-being programs.

Review benefits-related materials (summaries, booklets, contracts, communications) to ensure accuracy and alignment with plan design and policies.

Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, employment standards, and internal policies.

Keep apprised of market trends, legislative developments, and industry best practices to inform recommendations for program changes
Disability, Accommodation, and Leave Management

Manage disability claims, ensuring confidentiality, compliance, and compassionate support. Partner with Employee Relations on disability cases where required. Work closely with third-party vendors in managing claims.

Manage medical accommodation requests; engaging leaders and employees to ensure support and success of the accommodation plan. Work closely with third-party vendors in managing requests, as required.

Provide guidance and advisory support to HR leaders on disability and accommodation practices.

Review data and trends to inform continuous program improvement.

Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or related field

Minimum 10 years of Canadian benefits experience

Sound knowledge of benefits regulations and market trends

Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Share Point
