The Property Senior Underwriter function is meant to be a partner to the business segments, offering support, expertise and partnership. The existing diversity of the business portfolio demands from the underwriter specialized expertise in the different business areas. The Property Underwriting team works with the business to support a wide array of products and offerings, through a complex and highly demanding distribution force and network. An underwriter has the responsibility of delivering and materializing the product offer and promise.

About the role

What you need to know:

This position will allow us to continue with the growth, this underwriter will manage a portfolio of USD 8M in GPW (2023 GPW data), contribute to the portfolio management activities and to the accounting closing activities. This position is also important to generate new business opportunities to increase a profitable portfolio, to meet the budget goals and the 3-year business plan growth of 16% for 2024 and 5% for 2025 and 2026. The role requires 3 years of experience but the most important good attitude, ambition to win new business, knowledge in excel, analysis skills, soft skills, and fluent English. The role will include the maintenance and retention of the assigned portfolio with an appropriate service level and the following KPI’s for new business.

Underwriter with technical experience in middle and industrial market in the line of business requested, this position will report to the Manger of the LoB.

Your contribution at AIG

As an underwriter will be part of UW teams. He/she should work in team, learn about all the products offered in the respective line of business, focus on the customer to provide excellence service, and contributes to increase a profitable portfolio. He/she should build business relationships.

Based in Mexico City.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Quote submissions.

• Build a profitable portfolio.

• Underwriting and operational excellence across all the business by ensuring adherence to underwriting methodology, risk appetite, line setting, guidelines, business rules and pricing adequacy.

• Promote synergies among all Distribution, other underwriting teams and other support staff.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, producers, reinsurers and other partners.

• Maintenance portfolio requests, providing in a timely response the information that issuance team request to process requirements, taking account of SLA´s accomplishments as part of service

• Interaction with other AIG areas to provide information requests as: Claims to provide information of policies if it need to continue with the claims process without taking part of the claim determination. With distribution teams to attend technical advisories to brokers if it´s necessary. With Operations to instruct for the issuance of the movements.

• Maintain his/her UW information profile properly documented: including UW summary, authorization if it required, UW analysis and any other documentation to guarantee guidelines accomplishment.

• Attend external clients to promote, train agents and brokers to reinforce business line strategy, strength relations with agents and brokers to increase and create new business opportunities always promoting AIG values and behaviors

• Approach and collaboration with the different internal areas of the company, for the resolution of the services that are outside the response times to achieve the appropriate solution and timely closure of the same always under UW authority and responsibility

• Participate in assigned projects i.e., to improve operation as automatization processes, or any other which needs his/her actively participation

2. Accountabilities:

Achieve his/her individual goal with UW discipline stablished in annual budget (monthly monitoring)

Contribution of Team´s goals for new business strategy and retention portfolio stablished in annual goal (monthly monitoring)

Ensure the properly accomplishment of UW guidelines.

Accomplishment of SLA´s established for all business requests.

Attend internal and external clients which requires UW support.

Participate actively in projects which involves UW participation.

Leadership Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal

Good presentation skills and file knowledge

Time management – ability to manage & prioritize workload and diary management

Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels

Ability to assist with technical training to team claim handlers as required.

Ability to influence claims and non-claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy.

Technical Skills and Expertise:

Office Package: Intermediate or advance level of Excel, Word, Outlook.

Bachelor's Degree in actuary, engineering, administration, or similar information

What we’re looking for:

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience in Middle and Industrial Market Underwriting or knowledge of Property Terms & Conditions.
• Medium to advanced English
• Proven experience in the handling problems with agents, brokers, clients
• Along with technical skills required for the job, soft skills like effective broker engagement, commitment, teamwork, proactive management, effective time management/prioritization, calendar organization, negotiation skills.
• Effective analytical and attention to detail.
