Litigation Paralegal

AIG’s Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs (GLCR) department is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high-quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. The team ensures an operating environment that minimizes legal, regulatory and reputational risks and complies with all laws and regulations and AIG policies & procedures. AIG’s GLCR department is looking for an experienced paralegal in New York, NY to assist the General Insurance coverage litigation group in their management of casualty coverage litigation involving the AIG insurance companies. The position will report to an Associate General Counsel and will provide day-to-day support to the attorneys in the casualty coverage litigation group.

Job Description:

  • Help manage docket of litigation files, including gathering and inputting detailed case information, by utilizing internal electronic systems;
  • Coordinate payments to law firms, vendors and others through various electronic systems;
  • Assist with internal and external document searches in support of litigation needs including but not limited to discovery requests;
  • Organize documents for litigation files;
  • Draft and issue litigation hold notices;
  • Edit and organize reports to senior management concerning specified litigation matters;
  • Help on-board new employees by coordinating with the tech team;
  • Request and track aggregate loss run reports for insurance policies;
  • Assist with PowerPoint presentations;
  • Coordinate meetings; and
  • Assist with reinsurance inquiries.

Position Requirements:

  • College degree and/or paralegal certificate is preferred;
  • 3+ year(s) of experience as a paralegal, case manager or legal secretary is preferred;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (with a focus on Excel) and have the ability to learn other computer applications;
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Must be collaborative, highly organized, able to multi-task, deadline oriented and able to interact with senior leaders in the organization; and
  • Must be willing to be mentored and trained to meet the needs of the organization.

The base salary range for this position is $62,000--$77,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
