Job Description

This role is part of the Global Operations Manufacturing organization and provides leadership for the site Engineering and Maintenance functions at the Folsom manufacturing location. The site supports the manufacture of Agilent products that enable customers to deliver trusted scientific and diagnostic outcomes.

The Engineering and Maintenance Manager establishes and executes functional strategies, business plans, and technical objectives to support both short‑ and long‑term manufacturing and site goals. This role leads Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, and Technicians responsible for sustaining manufacturing processes, maintaining equipment and utilities, and improving product quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.

As a key member of the Folsom site leadership team, this leader provides strong people leadership and proactive operational support. The Engineering and Maintenance Manager develops technical and leadership capabilities within the team, drives continuous improvement across manufacturing systems, and reinforces a strong quality mindset where the team owns and executes nonconformances, investigations, change controls, and corrective actions.

This role supports Folsom‑specific manufacturing systems including automation, manufacturing equipment, and site utilities, in close partnership with global engineering, quality, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and execute engineering and maintenance strategies, business plans, and technical objectives aligned with site manufacturing priorities, operational goals, and global operations direction.

  • Lead, develop, and engage Manufacturing Engineers and Maintenance Technicians supporting production through process improvement, sustaining engineering, and equipment reliability activities.

  • Align engineering and maintenance execution with site capacity planning by assessing people, equipment, space, and infrastructure, and developing actionable roadmaps to support current and future manufacturing needs.

  • Lead new equipment introduction, installation, qualification, and sustaining activities to ensure manufacturing readiness, compliant execution, and reliable production performance.

  • Own manufacturing capital equipment planning, including business case development, justification, capital approval, execution, and full equipment lifecycle management.

  • Ensure manufacturing equipment, utilities, and engineering processes are installed, qualified, validated, operated, and maintained in compliance with the Agilent Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable regulatory and industry standards.

  • Provide engineering functional ownership of nonconformances, investigations, change controls, and CAPAs, ensuring timely, effective, and compliant execution in alignment with quality system requirements.

  • Support engineering and maintenance aspects of plant automation, manufacturing equipment, central monitoring systems, and site utilities critical to product quality, safety, and manufacturing continuity.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Manufacturing Operations, Quality, MSAT, Supply Chain, EHS, Global Engineering, and external suppliers to resolve technical, operational, and equipment reliability challenges.

  • Own site CMMS governance, including asset hierarchy and data accuracy, preventive maintenance program effectiveness, work order quality, and ongoing system updates to support maintenance execution, compliance, and reporting.

  • Drive continuous improvement, digital manufacturing, and reliability initiatives to improve equipment uptime, OEE, throughput, and overall manufacturing performance.

  • Develop and execute operational plans while managing departmental budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and performance metrics to meet site and departmental objectives.

  • Foster a strong safety, quality, and continuous improvement culture across engineering and maintenance teams, reinforcing accountability, standard work, and Agilent values.

The position manages a team that may support multiple shifts.

This is an onsite role in Folsom.
