At AES, we are accelerating the future of energy, together, while transforming customer experience and delivering unique products and solutions. We are looking for a Manager, Structures & Pricing, to join our Commercial team, reporting to the Director of Structuring & Pricing.
This role is critical to AES’s strategy for hybrid energy solutions, with a primary focus on thermal energy system modeling (including diesel generation, reciprocating engines, combined-cycle gas turbines) and supporting renewable and battery energy storage system (BESS) modeling. You will work closely with Origination, Trading, Engineering, and Risk Management teams to structure reliable, cost-effective solutions for mission-critical clients such as data centers.

Main Responsibilities
- Lead development of revenue model functionality to support customer transactions, including innovative, first-to-market deal types.
- Drive commercial structuring for hybrid and backup power solutions for data centers, integrating thermal, renewable, and storage technologies.
- Collaborate with regulatory, engineering, market operations, and trading teams to improve revenue modeling accuracy and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Coordinate with other members of the Commercial team to communicate model results and changes to broader AES stakeholders.
- Act as an internal subject matter expert on project revenue structuring and modeling, using model results to educate and coordinate with other teams across the AES CE business.
- Support the AES Clean Energy deal pipeline with development of project revenue models.
- Coordinate with Development, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Origination teams to ensure asset revenues are adequately reflected within the investment due diligence process.
- Develop a deep understanding of commercial impacts affecting AES CE business, grow their own skills, contribute to building the wider team, and progress along the career path.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Math, Physics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or similar fields. Master’s Degree in those areas preferred.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in the energy industry in trading, portfolio management, asset management, investment advisory, quantitative analytics, risk analytics, or similar.
- Extensive experience in U.S. wholesale power markets.
- Experience with thermal energy system modeling, including diesel generation, reciprocating engines, and combined cycle gas turbines.
- Experience integrating thermal, renewables, and storage in hybrid / backup power applications.
- Strong programming skills – Python preferred, R, MATLAB, C/C++ also acceptable.
- Experience modeling power markets; production cost model such as PLEXOS or Aurora a plus.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, communication skills and attention to detail.
- Commercial mindset, strong interpersonal skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
