Job Description: Up to $10,000 Sign on Bonus for eligible applicants Up to $5,000 Relocation Bonus available for eligible applicants Location: 171 Daniel Road Forest City Shift: Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm

  • Evaluates prescribed imaging and makes requested changes within 24 hours, accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic record and utilizing the record and verify system.

  • Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, verifying patient positioning and field orientation, and checking the record and verify system for prescription, treatment parameters, doses, treatment accessories, and monitor units.

  • Performs morning Quality Assurance (QA) on the treatment unit, assessing whether all equipment is operating according to physics policy and calling the appropriate person immediately after equipment malfunctions.

  • Assists in maintaining department supplies and provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill curriculum requirements of the academic institution.

  • As required by facility, participates in after hours on-call coverage, maintains competency with afterhours treatment coverage, performs 2D treatment calculations, and works with minimal direction and supervision.

  • Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment of the patient in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan.

  • Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient in a consistent and reproducible manner.

  • Assesses patients’ needs and actively seeks to resolve any potential problems or conflicts, consulting with the chief therapist/supervisor as necessary.

  • Treats patients in a timely and courteous manner, handling stressful situations appropriately and communicating effectively with patients of all ages.

  • Clinically observes patient reactions to treatment and assists in accommodating the patient through the treatment process.

  • Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of a physician or non-physician practitioner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer literate Required

  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records and record and verify systems Required

  • Knowledge of anatomical structures for localization Required

  • Technical skills to accomplish treatment plans proposed by Radiation Oncologists Required

  • Ability to learn and use Radiation Therapy software packages Required

  • Quick adaptability to departmental policies and procedures Required

  • Understanding of Basic Radiation Safety concepts to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff Required

  • Proficient in the use of Linear Accelerator, Treatment Planning Simulator, and patient tracking and scheduling systems Required

  • Excellent clerical skills for record keeping Required

  • Knowledge of radiobiology, doses to critical structures, and lymphatics for spread of disease Required

  • Effective communication skills and ability to handle delicate or stressful issues with tact Required

  • Familiarity with a range of medical devices and systems including patient dose monitors, portal imaging systems, and patient immobilization devices Required

  • Fluent in the English language and able to comprehend both written and verbal instructions Required

  • Organizational, interpersonal, and customer relations skills Required

  • Competence in grammar, spelling, keyboarding, and computer usage Required

Education:

  • Associate's Required

  • Bachelor’s Preferred

Field of Study:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program Required

Work Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience as a radiation therapist Preferred
