Project Role: Infra Tech Support Practitioner

Project Role Description: Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance of production and development systems and software products (both remote and onsite) and for configured services running on various platforms (operating within a defined operating model and processes). Provide hardware/software support and implement technology at the operating system-level across all server and network areas, and for particular software solutions/vendors/brands. Work includes L1 and L2/ basic and intermediate level troubleshooting.

Summary:

The Senior VMware/Nutanix/Vx Rail Administrator will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting virtualized and hyperconverged infrastructure across multiple client environments. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and experience in delivering enterprise-grade infrastructure services in a managed services model.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain multi-tenant VMware, Nutanix, and Vx Rail infrastructures supporting multiple client environments.
• Perform configuration, upgrades, and patching of VMware v Sphere, v Center, Nutanix AHV, and Dell Vx Rail clusters.
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance across client environments, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Manage VM lifecycle operations — provisioning, cloning, migration, snapshot management, and resource optimization.
• Support Vx Rail lifecycle management (LCM) including firmware updates, cluster expansion, and integration with vSAN.
• Oversee Nutanix operations (AOS, Prism Central, AHV) including replication, DR setup, and security compliance.
• Plan and execute backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures across heterogeneous platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and virtual networking layers.
• Implement automation for routine operations using PowerCLI, Ansible, or Python to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure end-to-end service reliability and compliance.
• Support client onboarding, migrations, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
• Participate in incident, change, and problem management processes following ITIL standards.
• Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, SOPs, and client-specific environments.
• Provide 24x7 support (on-call rotation) for critical client environments as part of the managed services model.
• Mentor junior administrators and contribute to knowledge base development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of overall IT infrastructure experience with at least 5+ years in VMware/Nutanix/Vx Rail administration.
• In-depth knowledge of:
• VMware v Sphere 7.x/8.x, v Center, vSAN, ESXi, v Realize Suite
  • Nutanix
  • Dell EMC Vx Rail architecture, LCM, and hardware management
• Strong understanding of hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) concepts and best practices.
• Experience supporting multi-customer environments with strict SLA adherence.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery tools (VMware SRM, Zerto, etc.).
• Scripting proficiency in PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
• Solid understanding of storage (SAN/NAS/vSAN) and virtual networking (VDS/NSX) concepts.
• Working knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and ticketing tools (vROps, Solar Winds, Service Now, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-oriented mindset.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) or higher.
• Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP/MCP) certification.
• Dell EMC Vx Rail Specialist or Implementation Engineer certification.
• Exposure to public cloud integration (Azure VMware Solution, AWS VMC, Nutanix Cloud Clusters).
• Experience in MSP or IT outsourcing environments with multi-tenant infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools (Terraform, Ansible, v Realize Automation).
• Strong documentation and client communication skills.
