IBM MQ Developer / Administrator

Experience:

Overall Experience: 5+ years
Technology-Specific Experience: Minimum 3 years in IBM MQ

Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced IBM MQ Developer / Administrator to manage and support the complete IBM MQ infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end MQ setup, configuration, administration, upgrades, and production support in high-availability enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage IBM MQ environments across platforms
Support Multi-Instance Queue Managers with Active–Passive HA architecture
Create and manage:

• Queue Managers
  • Queues (Local, Remote, Alias, Transmission)
  • Channels and Channel Security
    Implement and manage MQ security including:
• SSL/TLS configurations
  • Certificates and key repositories
  • Authentication and authorization
    Perform IBM MQ upgrades, fix packs, and patching activities
    Apply server-level OS patches and coordinate infrastructure maintenance activities
    Monitor MQ performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform tuning
    Troubleshoot production issues related to messaging, connectivity, and performance
    Provide operational support and incident resolution in production environments
    Work closely with application and integration teams to ensure reliable message flow
    Prepare documentation related to MQ configurations, standards, and operational procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Strong hands-on experience with IBM MQ administration and development
Deep understanding of IBM MQ architecture and messaging concepts
Experience managing High Availability and Multi-instance MQ setups
Expertise in MQ security, certificates, and SSL/TLS configurations
Experience with MQ upgrades, patching, and version migrations
Proficiency in troubleshooting MQ issues in production environments
Working knowledge of Linux platforms
Familiarity with enterprise integration and messaging patterns

Good to Have (Optional)

Experience with Mule Soft:

Experience with Azure API Management (APIM)
Exposure to cloud-based integration platforms

Nice to Have:

Experience in large-scale enterprise or mission-critical environments
Knowledge of scripting (Shell, Python, etc.) for MQ administration
