We are looking for a technically strong and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our growing data engineering team. This is a hybrid role that combines hands-on development with technical leadership, requiring the candidate to seamlessly operate as both a Senior Data Engineer and a Lead Data Engineer. The ideal candidate will spearhead data modelling initiatives while actively contributing to the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines on the Microsoft Azure platform.
What are we looking for? • 7+ years of overall experience in data engineering, with at least 2-3 years in a lead role • 5+ years of experience in Azure data platform • Strong hands-on expertise in Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks and the broader Azure data ecosystem • Proficiency in Python for data engineering and pipeline development • Advanced SQL skills including query optimization, stored procedures, and performance tuning • Solid experience in Data Warehousing concepts and Data Modelling design & build (Dimensional modelling) • Proven experience in ETL/ELT development across large-scale datasets • Strong data modelling skills across relational and cloud-native data platforms • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Excellent problem-solving ability, analytical skills and attention to detail • Self-driven with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under strict timelines • Demonstrated ability to mentor and upskill team members • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git and DevOps practices

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end data modelling effort, including conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned with business requirements • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure and high-performance data solutions on Azure platform • Define and enforce data engineering standards, best practices across the team • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into data models & solutions • Review code, optimize performance and ensure adherence to design standards • Mentor/guide junior and senior data engineers technically, conducting code reviews and optimize performance and ensure adherence to design standards • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure services like Azure Data Factory (ADF) & Databricks • Build and optimize data transformation workflows and notebooks using Azure Databricks and Apache Spark • Write clean, optimised and well-documented code in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation tasks • Develop data solutions, including dimensional modelling (Star/Snowflake schemas), partitioning strategies, and performance tuning • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all data pipelines and models • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into data models
