Job Title: CC/CQ Support Engineer (Clear Case & Clear Quest)
Job Summary:
Experienced CC/CQ Support Engineer providing end-to-end support for IBM Rational Clear Case and Clear Quest environments in a production setup. Responsible for incident resolution, user support, system monitoring, and ensuring uninterrupted configuration management services for development and QA teams.
Core Responsibilities:
Production Support (Primary Focus)
Provide L2/L3 support for Clear Case (CC) and Clear Quest (CQ)
Work on incident, service request, and change tickets within SLA timelines
Perform issue analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution for tool-related problems
Handle priority incidents (P1/P2) and provide timely updates to stakeholders
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive fixes
Clear Case (CC) Support
Support VOB and View management (creation, deletion, access issues)
Troubleshoot:
- Check-in/check-out failures
- View corruption / storage issues
- Branching/merging conflicts
Assist teams during code build and release activities
Monitor and maintain Clear Case storage, pools, and logs
Support Multi Site replication issues (sync failures, packet issues)
Clear Quest (CQ) Support
Manage user accounts, roles, and access permissions
Troubleshoot CQ queries, record issues, and workflow errors
Support defect tracking and reporting activities
Assist in schema updates and minor customizations
Handle database-related issues and coordination with DB teams
Monitoring & Maintenance:
Perform daily health checks for CC/CQ environments
Execute backup and recovery procedures
Maintain scripts (Shell/Perl) for automation and routine maintenance
Monitor logs, storage utilization, and system performance
Perform periodic cleanup and housekeeping activities
Automation & Continuous Improvement:
Automate repetitive support tasks using shell scripting
Identify recurring issues and implement permanent fixes
Support integration with CI/CD tools (Jenkins or similar)
Documentation & Collaboration:
Create and maintain SOPs, KB articles, and troubleshooting guides
Coordinate with development, QA, infra, and DB teams
Participate in on-call support / rotational shifts
Provide knowledge sharing and support guidance to end users
Required Skills:
Strong hands-on experience in:
- IBM Rational Clear Case (VOBs, Views, UCM)
- IBM Rational Clear Quest (user management, queries, workflows)
Experience in production support / application support environment
Knowledge of ticketing tools (Service Now, Remedy, etc.)
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux commands
Basic scripting knowledge (Shell / Perl)
Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change)
- IBM Rational Clear Quest (user management, queries, workflows)
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Clear Case Multi Site:
Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
Knowledge of Git or modern version control systems
Experience in migration or transformation projects
