The Opportunity

This position is based at our Ottawa office within the Point of Care division and requires on‑site presence four days per week, with the option to work remotely one day. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics.

As the Payroll Specialist, you’ll have the chance to ensure employees are paid accurately, on time, and with excellence. You’ll also play a key role in elevating payroll processes, supporting strategic initiatives, and driving continuous improvement. This role reports directly to the Payroll Manager and is a part of the HR Team. In this role you will be working for our biggest manufacturing site in Canada with approximately 700 employees on site.

What You’ll Do

Deliver accurate and timely semi-monthly payroll processing

Collaborate with HR, Finance, and employees to ensure seamless payroll operations

Manage payroll changes including hires, promotions, leaves, and terminations

Administer benefits, pension, stock plans, and taxable benefits

Reconcile payroll data (ADP, Workday, Kronos) and ensure compliance

Support audits, reporting, and year-end processes (T4s, CRA, WSIB, EHT)

Enhance and automate payroll processes for efficiency and accuracy

Provide responsive, high-quality support to employees

Contribute to strategic payroll initiatives and cross-functional projects

Required Qualifications

Diploma in Business Administration, HR, Finance or Accounting

Three to six years of payroll experience

Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation (Ontario & federal)

Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Workday, and time systems (Kronos is a plus)

Solid accounting and reconciliation skills

Advanced Excel and strong systems agility

Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Customer-focused with excellent communication skills

Able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

PCP designation (or working towards it)

Bi-lingual (English/French) is an asset

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $68,250.00 to $100,100.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
