THE OPPORTUNITY
This Senior Manager, AI Product Development, Digital Solutions position can work out of our Santa Clara, CA location.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
-
Define the strategy to build a high performing AI product development team. Formulate team goals to support business growth objectives, performance management, recruit, develop and retain talent to support business needs.

Provide technical and functional leadership for a highly skilled Product AI team (data engineers, ML Ops engineers, software architects, software engineers) to accomplish team goals. Responsible for on-time and high-quality delivery of product focused AI solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams across Digital Solutions and Medical Device divisions.

Provide leadership to define development methodologies, build project plans, establish development estimate practices, project resource allocation, ensure relevant technology stack (development environment and toolchains) for continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Challenge and coach team members as well as external partners to push for optimal insights and optimized/tailored/high-impact scalable AI/ML solutions.

Develop team processes, prioritize work, develop team roadmaps and deliverables, and provide hands on coaching and review of work performed by team.

Define and ensure implementation of data science standards for exploration, development, and deployment.

Develop budget estimates, obtain capital resources to deliver business goals. Contribute to business unit and divisional strategy planning.

Provide mentorship and career development oversight for direct report employees.
Critical Success Indicators:
- Successfully built and commercialized multiple enterprise grade Product AI solutions and services from concept through launch using agile processes in both consumer tech and med tech.
- Demonstrated experience in creating AI/ML solutions that seamlessly fit into customer and patient desired workflows.
Qualifications
- Masters or PhD in relevant field (e.g., applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, applied statistics)
- 10+ years of software/technology product development experience, including 5–7+ years building AI/ML products.
- 5+ years of people management experience leading AI engineering or software teams.
- Experience leading AI engineering and software teams. Solid experience working on full-model development lifecycle.
- Strong customer centric approach with outstanding leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, actionable manner.
- In-depth knowledge of software architecture styles, design patterns, and architectural principles.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Golang, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
- Deep experience in ML Ops tools for experiment tracking, model training, data versioning, annotation tools, model serving, monitoring and observability.
- Experience with GenAI and Agentic AI development infrastructure including grounding, RAG, MCP and prompt engineering.
- Experience developing AI products on cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), pipeline orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow).
- Proficient in tools like Azure ML SDK, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, or related technologies.
- Strong understanding of database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling principles.
- Significant experience working with agile software development methods, such as scrum and Kanban and working within CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience incorporating Security by Design principles into AI product development.
- Excellent technical, troubleshooting & mentoring skills.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills with ability to build trust.
- Results oriented with focused urgency, prioritization skills and ability to recognize/escalate issues appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends.
Preferred:
- Medical Device experience.
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated business (e.g. validated software related to medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences products).
- Solid understanding of the design thinking process, as well as a passion and know-how for influencing design strategy.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with FDA 510(k) submissions and clinical-grade ML product development.
- Background in signal processing, computer vision, or multimodal learning.

The base pay for this position is
$148,700.00 – $297,300.00
