About Abbott Diagnostics (ADD)

As a global leader in in vitro diagnostics, Abbott provides cutting-edge instruments, software solutions, and tests that support hospitals, labs, and clinics worldwide. We help transform medical testing through automation, innovation, and a focus on delivering high-quality, cost-effective results that improve patient care.

Our Informatics Team sits within the UKI Service Organisation — designed to meet the evolving needs of today's large, complex healthcare customers. The team provides specialist informatics expertise, supporting both sales and service teams across the region.

About the Role

We're looking for an Informatics Technical Service Specialist to implement and support complex IT infrastructure solutions including implementation, optimization, and ongoing success of Abbott's laboratory software solutions. This field-based role covers Scotland, with additional travel across UKI. You'll play a key role in shaping exceptional customer experiences — combining IT expertise, problem-solving, hands-on support, and deep product knowledge to help laboratories get the best out of our informatics solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with regional and local sales teams to support and grow existing customer accounts
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with customers and use these to expand Abbott's presence and value
  • Lead IT implementation activities in line with the agreed Statement of Work
  • Support the development and preparation of Statements of Work by gathering and validating technical needs
  • Recommend appropriate hardware solutions for Abbott IT systems and coordinate with external hardware providers where required
  • Carry out software installation, configuration, and setup activities
  • Deliver clear, structured training to end users on Abbott software applications
  • Provide comprehensive postimplementation support, resolving issues and optimising system performance
  • Act as a technical expert across the full IT solution — supporting procurement, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Continuously enhance the customer experience by optimising service quality and the performance of Abbott IT solutions

Success is measured by: Customer satisfaction (NPS), service quality, operational effectiveness, and the growth of existing accounts.

What You'll Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; science or medical related fields are a plus
  • Strong technical understanding of IT systems and software within a healthcare or laboratory environment
  • Experience delivering customer facing technical support or post sales service
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, train, and build rapport
  • A service driven mindset with a commercial awareness of customer needs
  • Strong organisation, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
  • Comfort with regular travel (typically around 3 days per week)

What We Offer

As you'd expect from a global healthcare leader, we offer an excellent package including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Defined contribution pension scheme
  • Private healthcare
  • Life assurance
  • Flexible benefits programme tailored to you
