Primary Job Function
The Informatics Technical Service Specialist (ITS) is responsible for driving the IT implementation for Abbott Diagnostics laboratory software solutions, delivering excellent technical professional service, providing expert application knowledge, training and expanding ADD business by developing existing customer accounts.
The Informatics Technical Specialist (ITS) will be front-line contact with customers in delivering software products that bridge laboratories' information systems and their analytical instrumentation. The position will assist laboratories in closing key gaps in data management functionality by using expert decision logic to facilitate the management of samples and the delivery of results.
The ITS will interact with customers' laboratory and IT personnel to craft effective solutions. The position will perform installation and integration work to facilitate highly automated laboratory operations, and provide customized consulting services to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
Core Job Responsibilities
•
Ensure all IT implementation projects are delivered and executed as per Statement of work
• Assist in the preparation of statement of work documents, ensuring all relevant information is captured • Specify the appropriate hardware solution for ADD IT solutions and where appropriate liaise with third party IT hardware providers
• Perform software-related installation and configuration processes
• Deliver structured software application product training to the end user
• Provide comprehensive support for entire IT solution (track & middleware).
• Provide ongoing level I & II support post ‘go live’
• Optimize ADD IT solutions and products as well as quality of service
• Support post-sales IT activities and provide expert knowledge
• Support the procurement process by providing technical information (e.g.
tenders, proposals)
• Serve as project manager/leader directing and executing all on-site laboratory informatics system implementation activities.
• Where required, serve as a billable resource for customers interested in advanced customization of their informatics software in situations where they desire the adaptation to meet their evolving needs within their laboratories
• Work closely with ADD regional / local sales teams and Informatics Sales colleagues to develop and profitably grow existing customer accounts
• Build sustainable customer relationships and leverage them to grow ADD share
Minimum Education
• Bachelor degree or equivalent required, preferably in computer science, information systems AND/OR Bachelor’s degree in medical, life sciences or medical technology is preferred
• Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics
• Knowledge of Oracle databases strongly recommended
• Familiarity with laboratory workflow and operations preferred, with a background as a medical technologist desirable, but not essential
• Some experience with ADD's instrumentation desirable
Minimum Experience/Training Required
• Minimum of 5 years track record in Healthcare with an emphasis on customer facing post-sales IT support
• Proven track record in a similar position supported by management and customer references
• Service-driven, commercially-minded
• Must be team orientated, analytical, highly organized
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Willingness to work in cross-functional teams
