Your role and responsibilities
- In this role as Technical Sales Specialist
- Continuous Water Analytics you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the sales of products / systems / services within a designated market/division in line with the division strategy. Each day, you will achieve both qualitative and quantitative sales targets to ensure sustainable order growth, revenues, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying and developing technical solutions creating sales opportunities based on building long term customer relationships and manage resolution to specific customer needs and issues.

This role as a key contributor to the Continuous Water Analytics Product Portfolio within the designated region, focusing on optimizing the Continuous Water Analytics Product Portfolio & Solutions covering traditional wet chemistry measurements, though to advanced large case analysers, including the latest infra-red technology for environmental and legislative Water Quality requirements, along with the routes to market for a world leading liquid analysis and measurement portfolio.
You will also showcase your expertise by identifying and creating opportunities to proactively lead and collaborate within the sales organization (ABB cross divisional business and direct sales to market including channels) to exceed the sales targets through high performance activities.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Drives sales of products, systems, and services to achieve volume, mix, and profitability targets.
- Builds strong customer relationships, understands needs, and ensures a positive end‑to‑end sales experience.
- Prepares sales plans, monitors progress, and develops recovery actions for potential shortfalls.
- Creates value for customers and ABB through effective sales techniques and successful contract execution.
- Manages key account activities, supporting water and wastewater customers in line with national strategies.
- Identifies and develops new market opportunities while executing efficient marketing and value‑proposition activities.
- Oversees administrative processes including order management, customer queries, cash collection, and coordination with operations.
- Prepares high‑quality offers with internal stakeholders, ensuring technical and financial accuracy aligned to business strategy.

Qualifications for the role
- Innovative, consultative collaborator who builds strong relationships with end users and internal stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of process control and key quantitative/qualitative measurements for optimising online Water & Environmental processes, including global trends in Continuous Water Analytics (e.g., liquid analysers, UV, digital analysis software).
- Engineering background (Chemical, Process, Electrical/Instrumentation) and/or Process Automation, with 5+ years in complex technical sales; Water Analysis experience is an advantage.
- Experience in Product Portfolio Management, direct sales optimisation, and expanding portfolios through OEMs and distributor/partner networks.
- Self‑starter with strong results orientation; consistently drives performance improvement and demonstrates effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and ideally SAP.
- Confident communicator in English.
- Holds a valid Australian driver’s licence and current Australian visa/work permit.
