Your Role and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for commissioning and maintaining ABB Marine Azipod® propulsion units. You will ensure that commissioning and service activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively, in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
In this role, you'll help run what runs the world by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact, as you will be accountable for:
- Commissioning and Maintenance of ABB Marine Azipod® systems, including installation supervision, startup, testing, and acceptance in collaboration with classification societies and customers.
- Handling Warranty and Service Calls on operating vessels, ensuring timely and effective support.
- Continuous Improvement by providing feedback on commissioning activities and suggesting solutions to meet business and customer needs.
- Project Delivery and Documentation, ensuring quality, following ABB procedures, and preparing all required reports post-assignment.
- Compliance and Communication, adhering to ABB policies and reporting opportunities or issues to management.
Qualifications for the Role
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical Power Engineering or Automation, with over 2 years of experience in commissioning or servicing relevant systems. Shipbuilding experience and ABB product knowledge are a plus.
- You have a strong ability to read and interpret technical documents (e.g., datasheets, electrical drawings, P&ID diagrams), and good understanding of industrial and marine power generation/distribution processes.
- You are familiar with MS Office and preferably ABB-specific tools.
- You are at ease communicating in English and Italian and willingness to travel globally on short notice by various means of transport. Valid car driver's license and ability to work within an Italian service organization serving international customers.
- You like working in a responsive, flexible, and dedicated way with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to going the extra mile.
- You are effective in both team environments and working independently, with the ability to perform under pressure and stay focused on targets.
- You possess excellent communication skills, creative thinking, and strong troubleshooting abilities to tackle complex challenges.
