The work model for the role is: hybrid.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you are the central interface between strategy and implementation: You are responsible for all procurement – from orders and supplier management to contracts and cost optimization. With your leadership, you motivate a talented procurement team and actively contribute to ABB building its supply chains more efficiently, cost-consciously, and sustainably.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Leadership and development of the procurement team, budget responsibility for the department, and reporting of relevant metrics and measures to SCM management.

• Management of the entire order processing from release to delivery, including deadline monitoring, follow-up procedures, early identification of supply shortages, and active escalation management with suppliers.

• Management of contracts, volume contracts, and delivery schedules in SAP with focus on compliance with delivery, quality, and cost targets, as well as processing complaints and risk assessment.

• Continuous optimization of the supplier base through structured cost comparisons, systematic supplier evaluations, and regular audits taking into account total cost of ownership and sustainability goals.

You will be part of a committed and collegial team where you can bring in your experience in strategic and operational procurement, take on responsibility, and actively contribute to the further development of processes and employees.

Qualifications for the role

• You bring a degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field, ideally combined with an understanding of technical and industrial processes.

• You have many years of experience in procurement, particularly in manufacturing environments or complex supply chains where reliability is critical.

• You navigate confidently through common procurement and purchasing systems and bring solid negotiation experience with suppliers.

• As a leader, you have proven that you can inspire teams, recognize and develop potential, and achieve ambitious goals together.

• Your strength lies in thinking in terms of total cost of ownership and systematic supplier evaluation. You recognize risks early and act proactively.

• Continuous improvement is not just a process for you, but a passion. You work data-driven and enjoy solving complex challenges.

• Fluency in German and English, you can also succeed in tricky international negotiation
